Allegory of Charity Diptych

A diptych is a two-panel glass. These panels both offer allegories of charity

At left is seen a generous queen giving alms to the poor. This queen is often confused as an image of Mary.
On close inspection, the halo of the queen differs markedly from halos used for Mary found in other windows.
It is also important to note that Mary was considered an Anawim—a Hebrew word describing a poor person—who, typically, would not have fancy brocades and a money purse.

On the right side of this window, Jesus allows "Doubting Thomas" to touch the wounds of crucifixion on His hands and side.
Together, the window evokes the Three Theological Virtues of: Faith (do not doubt); Hope (ask and you shall receive) and Love (charity: there is no greater love than to lay down one's life for a friend).
