Update on Strategic Planning Committee – The Committee met to determine information that was needed. They plan to ask Steve Horn who is with the County to talk to them. Fr. Patrick Carrion obtained information from other parishes about their strategic planning committees. The Committee hopes to complete a new strategic plan by year end. 2. Volunteerism – Fr. Patrick Carrion will ask the new seminarian Ned Coughlin to meet with various ministries for information about their volunteer needs. He will ask what skills and specific training the volunteers need, what are the time commitments, what are the ways people can volunteer, and how are they currently recruiting volunteers. It was also suggested that the ministries consider putting an insert in the bulletin to ask for more volunteers. 3. Pastoral Council Elections – There were 476 ballots received, 472 were valid and 4 were disqualified. This is considerably less than in prior years. There was discussion to suggest ways to increase the number of ballots. It was recommended to use all media to distribute ballots including putting ballots in the bulletin, at the end of pews, and at the entrances to the Church. It was also recommended to allow time at Mass to complete the ballots. To do this, volunteers will be needed to put out ballots at the beginning and end of each Mass. 4. The Blessing Mass for the Pastoral Council will take place on Sunday, June 10th at the 11:15 Mass. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Jerry Hynson and Louis Stachowiak were introduced as the newly elected council members. Becky Martin and Ralph Arnold were reelected to the council. 2. Diversity in the Parish - Religious Education met with the Spanish Ministry to determine what needs the ministry has for Religious Education. Six children signed up at the meeting and there were potential volunteers for the youth ministries. This topic was tabled for the new council. 3. Hospitality Sunday –Hospitality Sundays are well attended. The ministries have been asked to participate; however, there has been miscommunication about set-up and which ministries will be there. Hospitality Sunday is staffed by all volunteers, so there is a concern about burnout. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Carnival – The carnival was a huge success. It is believed that it netted $20,000. It was recommended that a thank you letter be sent to Terry Jones and Teresa O’Brien for all their hard work with the carnival. There were no other questions on the committee reports.
