There is a contract with Dean Camlin for design of the Fellowship Hall. We are working on schematic drawings. Mike Oster suggested a new church sign, and Terry confirmed that a new sign is in the works. The new sign will be 2-sided with brick columns. The hillside will be improved as well, and 4 billboard signs will be removed. Religious Education – Bob Andrews’ handout emphasized the commitment of the committee to encourage the on-going education of all of those involved in faith formation. We need to develop a cohesive adult formation program. The fee structures for the programs increased by 3% and expenses were held in line. The entertainment books were highly successful as a fundraiser. Teresa Greene’s replacement should be in place by July. Development – Mike Oster reported that the weekly offering is on budget. The final phase of the Capital campaign raised $200,000 through the phonathon. Overall, we raised $7 million towards our $8million goal. In the area of legacy giving; we have an occasional gift. Liturgy – Joe Rankin reported that it has been a very active year. Accomplishments included increased mass attendance, a well attended Liturgical Ministry retreat (Next year’s retreat is on January 17, 2004), and an increase in the number of lectors. We need to work on developing more of a sense of community and friendliness. Fr. Leo mentioned that September 15th would be a test run for liturgical ministers for the new church. Management & Finance – The committee met to review the budget for the school and church. The budget for 2003-2004 is $1.5 million, a 5% increase. Because of the new church, the impact on the budget will be seen in many areas, for instance the utilities increased from $40,000 to $62,700. In September, we will probably begin borrowing money .The school budget of $1.8 million was an increase of 9%. The annual budget for 2002-2003 was on target. In the Human Resources area, background checks for employees and volunteers will be implemented soon. The Communications “guru” is still a position under consideration. Terry Jones was hired to monitor construction of the new church and parish facilities. Outreach – The annual goals were outlined and the activities of subcommittees are going well. The Sunday nursery is in need of more publicity. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is emphasizing spirituality as well as monetary assistance in their program. The parish website will include the Pastoral council minutes. The Welcoming committee is extremely successful.
