Special thanks and appreciation to all who helped with the
farewell reception and celebration for Father Leo on Sunday, July 22nd.
The cookies, cakes, vegetables and soft drinks were wonderful. The
liturgy was beautiful, the participation was outstanding and our
choir was at their best.
Thank you for your generous response for the parish gift.
Let us keep Father Leo in our prayers as he begins his new
assignment at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary.
I have invited Father Patrick Carrion to celebrate the 11:15 a.m. Mass on Sunday, August 19th.This will give us an opportunity to express our appreciation for the work he did as our Temporary Administrator during the past year. There will be a reception following the Mass in the Portico. All parishioners are invited to attend. I am deeply grateful to Father Carrion for all his work, support and prayers.
May God bless you,

ADOPTION
FAIR…Sunday, Sept. 9
Our Lady of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland will be hosting an Adoption Fair for families from 1:00-4:00 pm. For women in crisis, couples desiring to parent, children in need of homes--adoption can be God's grace and mercy to them in their time of need. Adoption is an option that has received little attention in the right to life movement. As children of God we believe it can make a profound difference in the spiritual and physical lives of families. We want to reach out to couples and families in the community by highlighting the blessing of adoption. The fair is sponsored jointly by the Respect Life Ministry, the Elizabeth Ministry and the Wellness Ministry of Our Lady of the Chesapeake Parish. There will be representatives from the community, including Catholic Charities and other domestic and international adoption agencies. For more information email Wellness@olchesapeake.org or visit the parish web site at www.olchesapeake.org
Unborn Victims of Violence Act:
(Also known as “Laci and Conner’s Law”) was signed into law on
April 1, 2004 by President George Bush. This law recognizes
unborn children as victims when they are killed or injured
during the commission of federal or military crimes of violence.
This law lists 68 existing federal crimes to which the bill
would apply, each of which already covers the pregnant woman. A
great majority of crimes are governed by state law, not federal
law. Maryland has a law that will soon be tried in court. Under
this law a person can be charged with murder if the fetus is
determined to have been viable at the time of death.
