Mass Intentions

8:00 a.m. Julia Ward
8:00 a.m. Leo Hagarty
Even though it is summer, there is still much happening in the Church. The parish acknowledges the great work and leadership of our Youth Ministry Office here at St. John under the guidance of Paul Gallagher and Kenn de Moll who along with some 20 youth leaders accompanied over 115 of our young people to the Franciscan University Youth Conference in Steubenville, Ohio last weekend. Our parish was joined by St. Wenceslaus in Baltimore City, as they did not have enough students for a bus, which allowed for our young people to meet others in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. The St. John Parish group was the single largest group to attend the conference. I am sure the blessings of the weekend will continue to unfold in the years ahead for these young people.
Sister Bernadette Field’s memorial mass was so well attended by the parish which was a great tribute to her ministry and presence here. As Fr Leo so aptly said in the homily, many more people would have attended but the very people to whom she ministered are those who often are not able to attend mass. All were present either physically or spiritually. The parish is grateful to the many ministries and organizations, which pulled together quickly to offer a prayer celebration before and during the mass and the fellowship afterwards.
