I am very grateful to have the opportunity to minister with you as I begin my assignment at St John Parish. In many ways I feel I know you through Msgr. Valenzano. After his diagnosis and while he was in Rome, I would speak to him often to see how best the diocese could support him while so far away. He spoke often of you and how your prayers were getting him through.
As I finish my eight year term with the Office of Clergy Personnel, I look to the priests, deacons, staff and parishioners of the parish for wisdom as I begin parish ministry. I look forward to whatever time we have together and whatever wisdom you have to offer to me.
As I arrive this weekend, please help me to get to know you, sharing how I can best serve you.

PERPETUAL ADORATION UPDATE! The following hours have one scheduled adorer, but we would like to have at least two for each hour: Sundays – 2, 4, 6, & 8 a.m.; and 12,1,3,4,6,7 & 8 p.m.; Mondays – 1, 2 & 6 a.m.; 4 & 6 p.m.; Tuesdays – 3, 6, 8 & 11a.m.; and 4 & 5 p.m.; Wednesdays – 1, 2, 7 & 11 a.m.; and 12, 2 & 3 p.m.; Thursdays – 12, 1, 2,5, 6 & 9 a.m.; and 12,3,4 & 11 p.m.; Fridays – 2, 3, 5 & 9 a.m.; and 12,2,3,4,5 & 6 p.m. Saturday-1,3 & 6 a.m., 2,3,4,5,6 & 9 p.m. Please call the parish office.
CHANGE OF MORNING WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE:
Effective July 10th, the weekday Mass schedule will change. The new schedule will be as follows:
Monday thru Thursday 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Friday – 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Saturday – 8 a.m.
First Friday – 7 and 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The schedule is changing for the following reasons: (1) to permit our priests to attend funerals in other parishes for brother priests, (2) to reduce scheduling problems for funerals in our parish and (3) to allow health care ministers to attend Mass before visiting the sick and (4) reduce scheduling problems for the school.
ROSARY PRAYED … 2nd Sunday of each month
The Ladies Sodality prays the Rosary on the 2nd Sunday of each month after the 9:15 a.m. Mass, at the statue of the Blessed Mother in the church. Everyone is welcome.

Adult Faith Formation
why catholic? There will be a meeting on August 7th at 7:00 p.m. in The Portico for all those interested in being a small group facilitator for Why Catholic. SUMMER BIBLE STUDY: Have you ever wanted to get a little more out of Sacred Scripture or the Mass? If you said yes, then this summer is your chance! We will be meeting at the Parish Center every Thursday from 7:00-8 p.m. We will be looking at the readings for that week’s Mass. It will not only give you a better look at your faith, but a better look at Christ himself.

We meet every 2nd Sunday and 4th Friday from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. This ministry is open to all 7th & 8th graders.

girls summer basketball clinics …July 10-20
Becky Martin is holding her annual evening camp for girls attending grades 5-9 at St. John’s on July 10, 11, 13, 17, 18 & 20th. GABRIEL PROJECT TRAINING MEETING…Tues., July 11 A training session will be held at the Parish Center in the Emmaus Room for Gabriel Project volunteers. This ministry meets the practical, emotional and spiritual needs of women in our community who are facing crisis pregnancies. Women from our church serve as “Angel Friends” and provide friendship, mentoring and support to women during pregnancy and beyond. THE GABRIEL PROJECT is currently looking for a car for one of its clients in our area who is in need of such for transportation. Because the donation will be passed directly to a client, the IRS will allow the donor to deduct the full fair market value of the vehicle. CRAFTER’S FAIR & FLEA MARKET…Sat., Sept. 30
Knights of Columbus Council 1393 is looking for vendors for this 2nd annual event being held on St. John parking lot from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Vendors may begin setting up at 5:30 a.m.). Spaces (17’ by 20’) are $35 each or 2/$60. More space can be arranged if requested in advance. Spots are pre-paid and non-refundable. No rain date. LANDFILL PERMITS: Carroll County residents receiving their Carroll County property tax bill also receive two landfill-use coupons. If you have no use for your coupons, your donations of those coupons to St. John Church would be greatly appreciated.
PILGRIM VIRGIN STATUE of OUR LADY of FATIMA: A statue has been donated to St. John by the Legion of Mary and may be placed in your home for a one-week stay by contacting Pat Morris at 410-374-3105.

Please continue to help minister to the poor in Carroll County by remembering that next weekend (3rd weekend of the month) is Food Sunday. Bring your donation of non-perishable food to church and place it in the baskets by the door of the church. We especially need donations of canned meats, stews, spaghetti sauce, canned pasta meals, jelly, peanut butter, powdered milk, canned fruit and bottled juices. Also needed are paper goods, such as toilet paper, baby diapers, paper towels, etc. Thank you for your continued generosity!

THE DEER PARK LIONS CLUB a member of Lions Clubs International (the world's largest service organization) will collect used eyeglasses for recycling in developing countries. These used eyeglasses will be sent to Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers where they are cleaned, repaired and classified by prescription. The eyeglasses are then distributed to those in need by Lion volunteers and other organizations hosting optical missions in developing countries. We also take used hearing aids that can be repaired and recycled. Look for the Lions Recycle for Sight/Hearing Aid boxes near the doors of the church on the 4th Sunday of each month. (July 22-23).

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE at MASS: During the warm summer months, shorts, tank-tops, bare-midriff tops or other revealing articles of clothing, and beach-style attire are not appropriate dress for celebrations of the Liturgy. Please observe these guidelines out of respect or the Lord’s presence and out of consideration for fellow worshipers.
