                  From the Pastor

As most of you know by now, our Pastor, Msgr. Art has been diagnosed with acute leukemia while still in Rome on his sabbatical. He had been sick and felt bad enough to go to the hospital. It is fortunate that he went to the hospital. They were able to discover the leukemia before any serious problems could occur. He has gone under an eight day period of chemotherapy and will spend the rest of the month recuperating. There are four common types of leukemia. Msgr. Art has acute myeloid leukemia. Fortunately, this form of leukemia is not as bad as the others. After Msgr. has recuperated and is well enough to travel, he will return home. We do not know whether he will return to the parish, go to the hospital, or continue his recuperation elsewhere.

He appears to be in good spirits and feels better now than he had been feeling for a few weeks. He tires easily because of the chemotherapy. He wants us to know that he does not think it is as bad as it seems. He doesn’t even mind the hospital food. His brother and Msgr. Tewes and another friend are there with him now.  I know that they are a great comfort for him.

If you would like to send him a note the address is:

        Msgr. Arthur F. Valenzano

        Institute for Continuing Theological Education

Let us keep Msgr. Art in our prayers.

God Bless you and “Praise Jesus”,
