From the Pastor

    Bishop Gordon Bennett, S. J., the Urban Vicar and newly appointed Bishop of Mandeville, Jamaica will be the main celebrant of the 6 o’clock Mass next Sunday evening. He was invited to celebrate Mass with us as part of our celebration of the 10^th Anniversary of Life Teen Youth Ministry in our parish. Please join me in expressing appreciation to Paul Gallagher (our parish Director of Religious Education), our current Youth Ministers (Jordan Tippett and Scott Link), and the adult members of the core team, the many adult volunteers and parents who have helped us through the years. I am especially thankful for the youth of our parish whose faith-filled participation, dedicated leadership and generous cooperation have been and continue to be essential to the success of this ministry. May God continue to bless and grace the young people of our parish.

Liturgy & Worship

PERPETUAL ADORATION – YOUR OPPORTUNITY to SPEND TIME with the LORD. We currently have two Adoration hours with no scheduled adorer and are being covered by substitutes; Monday 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Thursday 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. If you are willing to adopt one of these hours, please call the Parish Center. The following hours have one scheduled adorer but we would like to have at least one more for each hour: Sundays – Midnight, 2,3, & 8 a.m.; and 12 noon & 6 p.m.; Mondays – 1, 2 & 11 a.m.; Tuesdays – 3 & 7 a.m. and 1 & 11 p.m.; Wednesdays – 1,2 & 3 a.m. and 3 p.m.; Thursdays – 2 a.m. and 12:00 noon, 1 & 3 p.m.; Fridays – 12 midnight, 2&3 a.m., and 12 noon & 1 p.m.; Saturdays – 1,2 & 3 a.m.; and 1,2,3,9  & 10 p.m. Please call the parish office if you can fill one hour.

SPIRITUAL CAUTION: Please do not put anything on the bulletin boards or leave papers in the church vestibules or pews. For example: A Chain Letter – Novena Prayer; Although novenas are wonderful spiritual gifts, chain letters are not – as they borderline on superstition rather than faith. GROCERY CERTIFICATES & GIFT CARDS may be purchased in the parish office during the summer months on Monday – Friday, from 9 – 12:00 noon.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to the Students whose artwork was selected for display at the Carroll County Arts Council. The art will be displayed on the 2^nd floor until the first week of August.

 

YEARBOOK PICTURES: Anyone who placed an ad with pictures may pick up their pictures at school on Wednesdays between 9 a.m. and 12 Noon.

TEACHERS & ASSISTANTS are NEEDED for NEXT YEAR: The program cannot exist without the help of many volunteers! We want to keep our class size to a minimum. 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY: During the weekend of July 24 – 25, Life Teen will kick off its 10-year anniversary! On Saturday, July 24^th, young adults are invited to join us for talks, a coffee house, and an evening of praise and worship. Sunday, July 25^th focuses on our teens, and they will have a chance to hear some great talks, have a picnic, and gather for the 6:00 p.m. Mass with Bishop Bennett. * THE ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY *

Give us this day our daily bread! When we pray the Our Father, we ask God to provide our food. The majority of us receive sufficient food. Others have very little. Your contributions to the poor boxes help the St. Vincent de Paul Society keep food on hand for emergency situations and also to help support Carroll County Food Sunday. Thank you for remembering the poor boxes when you leave church each week!

ADULT EDUCATION … Monday Evenings in July

At 7:00 p.m. in the St. Theresa Room of the Parish Center and continuing each Monday evening in July. The Sacraments in the Scriptures: This course will focus on the Scriptural foundation of the seven sacraments. The book for this course will be available for $10 during the first session.

 

KNIGHTS of Columbus SOCIAL MEETING … Tues., July 20

At 8:00 p.m. at the ARC of Carroll County, Fr. Leo will address the topic: “For it is in giving, that we receive”. All parishioners are welcome!

FAITH AND POLITICS SUMMER SERIES #2 … Sat., July 24 

Examining the issues of Same-sex Marriage from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in the parish center, Fr. Brian will speak on the issues concerning same-sex marriages and its effect on marriage and the family. Light refreshments will be served. Invite a friend and learn more about your faith!   

 

RENEWAL of MARRIAGE VOWS ... Saturday, July 24

Couples married in July are invited to renew their marriage vows at the 5:00 p.m. Mass. If you wish to participate, please sign up in the Sunday Sacristy or the parish office in advance of the weekend.

At 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall (old church). Have you or someone you know been divorced but never went through the Church’s annulment process? There are many misconceptions about annulments. Fr. Gil Seitz from the Archdiocese of Baltimore will be here to explain the process and answer your questions.

K of C ANNUAL GOLF OUTING … Friday, August 20

At the Links at Gettysburg. Fee per player is $100 before July 22 and $125 after. Registration closes August 6. All proceeds go to St. John Youth Ministry.
