From the Pastor

Many of you have already noticed that the front of our new parish bulletin includes the name of our newly appointed Permanent Deacon, Donald Miller. I had been waiting for the letter from Cardinal Keeler that made Deacon Don’s assignment official. The letter arrived last Monday. Please join me in welcoming Deacon Don and his wife Pat to our parish. The Millers are not strangers to our parish, several members of their family are already part of St. John’s. Deacon Don will introduce himself at the Masses this weekend. I had the privilege of working with Deacon Don during our time together at St. William of York parish in Baltimore. Welcome to St. John’s.

Let us continue to pray for vocations to the priesthood, religious life and the diaconate.

                May God bless you,

WILL YOU? Many people think about making a will at one time or another during their lifetime. Yet, it is estimated that up to 70% of Americans leave their estate without having made a will. A will allows you to control how your loved ones are provided for after your death. Every person should have a will appropriate for their individual circumstances. Through a will you can distribute your property as you choose; appoint your own executor; provide for trusts and perhaps even provide for your church or favorite ministry. A gift to St John, for example, establishes a lasting legacy of love for others by enabling us to continue the preservation and expansion of our Catholic heritage through our many ministries. Please include St John as part of your planned giving option. Thank you!
