From the Pastor

As we begin our first full weekend in the new church, I ask your continued patience as we deal with the transition. Everything from the new weekend Mass schedule, the order for communion lines and even the order for taking up the collection will require some reorientation. Your cooperation is appreciated.

I hope you will have time to come early and/or stay late and enjoy some prayerful time in our new church. The artwork, both the old and the new come together to create a prayerful atmosphere. For example, the restored Stations of the Cross are beautiful in themselves, they become even more meaningful when they are viewed while we are actually praying the stations.

Please join me in thanking the Dedication Committee for all their hard work, planning and attention to detail. Now let us remember to keep our church a house of prayer.

                May God bless you,

NOTICE CONCERNING MASS INTENTIONS: Canon 945ff:  In accordance with approved custom of the Church, the Faithful are invited to ask the parish priests to offer Mass for a particular intention along with the priest’s general intention, “for the good of the Church and the whole world.” (Priest prayer before Mass). At our parish, this has been an important part of our faith, as we believe that our intentions rise up to heaven with every Mass being offered.

As of November 1, 2003, the parish will begin a new Mass schedule that has two less weekend Masses. These Masses have already been assigned with particular Mass intentions along with the person’s offering. According to Canon law 953 and 954, the parish priests have the responsibility to ensure that Masses will be said for these intentions within a year, even if the Masses are to be celebrated elsewhere, unless the donors have expressly stipulated otherwise (Canon 954).

We assure you that if you have already requested a Mass Intention for the remainder of this year, this will be completed within the year, even if this intention and the offering will be distributed to other priests and religious communities outside our parish.

In the future, the expected increase in the number of Mass intentions requires us to create the policy that we will not be able to guarantee a certain date or specific Mass for your intention. In order to assist our parish staff who organize the Mass intentions, we kindly ask that if you wish to have a year-long intention, that you please come to the parish office and make this request at the beginning of each calendar year. We are always ready to assist you in having a Mass offered for your intention. For your information, the parish bulletin will provide the schedule of the Mass intentions for the following week. Thank you for your consideration.
