From the Pastor

    Thank you to our parish Right to Life Committee for the prayerful witness they gave to our parish by inviting us to participate in the Prayer Chain last Sunday. Please continue to pray for a deeper respect for life from conception to natural death.  

    This weekend, thanks to the coordination of our parish Health Care Ministry, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick at the 6:30 Mass on Saturday evening and at the Noon Mass on Sunday. I am particularly grateful to Sister Bernadette and all the Health Care Volunteers who enable our parish to reach out to the sick, the homebound and the residents of the local nursing homes, independent and assisted living facilities and Carroll County Hospital. Thanks also to the Westminster Council of the Knight of Columbus who help with the transportation for this weekend’s Masses.

    Please note the changes in the weekend Mass schedule. The new schedule begins the first weekend in November.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

THE PARISH OFFICE is seeking a part-time/on-call receptionist to fill in as needed, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Individual should have an understanding of the Catholic faith, possess a pleasant phone manor, and be detail oriented. THE SPECIAL COLLECTION next weekend is for World Mission Sunday. GROCERY CERTIFICATES: Please support the school through purchasing gift cards for Kohl’s, Boscovs, and local grocery stores. There is no additional cost involved but the school makes 5% from all sales. They are available through the school office and before school.

From 7:00 – 8:45 p.m. We’ll make scarecrows (we provide the straw, you bring the nylon stockings, shirt, and pants), play games, and eat fall snacks! Plus, bring a decorated pumpkin to enter in our “Decorated Pumpkin Contest!” Most creative pumpkin wins a prize!

Please continue to help minister to the poor in Carroll County by remembering that next Sunday, the third weekend of the month, we observe Food Sunday. Please bring your donations of non-perishable food to church and place in the white buckets by the door. We especially need donations of canned meats, stews, spaghetti sauce, canned pasta meals, jelly, powdered milk, canned fruit and bottled juices. We also need paper goods, such as toilet tissue, baby diapers, paper towels, etc. Thank you so much for your continued help and generosity!

Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St. John Church and then to Bullock’s Airport Inn for a luncheon. Beautifully decorated tables, favors, and “words of wisdom” from our Church Staff will highlight the day. All members are invited to celebrate this milestone. FILIAE MARIAE WOMEN’S BREAKFAST … Sun., Nov. 2

From 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Best Western. St. John’s newly formed Women’s Group Filiae Mariae will host a prayer breakfast with guest speaker Robyn Bobak on “The Genius of Women.” Everyone is invited to attend the 9:15 a.m. Mass at St. John. NEW YORK CITY TRIP … Saturday, November 29

The Religious Ed is again organizing a wonderful day-trip to the Big Apple. We leave from the back parking lot at 6:00 a.m. and return approximately 10:00 p.m. The cost is $47 and includes transportation and light refreshments.
