Right after to 6:00 p.m. Mass. This is one of the coolest Life Nights of the year! Anyone in the 8^th grade or older is welcome to join us.

 

STEUBENVILLE MEETING … Sunday, June 8

After the 6:00 p.m. Mass, at least one parent must come with each teen. Please bring insurance information. For questions, please call Paul in the Religious Ed. Office.

 

YOUTH EXPO: Life Teen will be selling pretzels at the Youth Expo on Saturday, June 7, and we need volunteers! The Expo is open to everyone, and will be held at the Farm Museum from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. There will be Dance Performances, BMX Biking, Horse Demonstrations, Fashion Shows, and lots of other fun activities. If you can help take a shift, please let Paul know.

The next meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will take place on Wednesday, June 4^th at 7:00 p.m. in the parish center. This meeting will be a “social” and we hope to see all members there. BASIC TRAINING for CATHOLICS … Beginning June 30

Continuing Monday’s at 7:00 p.m. for 4 weeks in the parish center. Seminarian Tyson will explore the pillars of the Catholic Faith from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each session will stand-alone, don’t worry if you miss a session.

 

ST. JOHN SCHOOL REUNION … Sunday, July 20

At 7:00 p.m. in the parish center. Have you heard people criticize the Church, using historical events to depict the Church in a negative way? Putting these events into the correct historical context, come and learn the whole story about Christ’s Church…come learn the truth.

PARISH PILGRIMAGE to ITALY … November 7 – 17

We are full for the original plan of 45 people, HOWEVER, after speaking with the tour agency, they offered another option that would accept 20 more people if the waiting list reached 20. For information, contact Fr. Leo in the parish office.

 

50^th ANNIVERSARY BOOK & VIDEO … November 2003

A book and video detailing the history of St. John parish is scheduled for release and will be available to all parishioners.

 

SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR CLOSING MASS… Sat., Dec. 27

On the Feast Day of our patron Saint. At 6:30 p.m., celebrated by Bishop Malooly. A reception follows in the gym.

 

ALTAR SOCIETY of ST. JOHN – a group of parishioners dedicated to the care of the church’s appearance and cleanliness. Preparations are underway to form an Altar Society in our parish, as we plan for the move into our new church. Interested volunteers, men especially are needed. MEMORIAL BRICKS—3^rd PHASE DEADLINE: July 15^th is the last day to submit order forms for Memorial Bricks that will be in place for our Dedication Mass on October 26, 2003. Bricks ordered after that date will be ordered for placement in mid-November. Forms for ordering 4” x 8” bricks ($75) are available in the parish office. Winner must be 18 years of age or older (unless accompanied by a parent), with a U.S. Passport, and must be in good physical condition and able to walk without assistance. 150^th ANNIVERSARY WINE GLASS: Wine Glass mementos of our 150^th Anniversary year are available in the parish office. Each glass bears a satin-etched image of our Sesquicentennial theme, “Come to the Table of the Lord,” around the altar that was in our church on Main Street, is at the center of our worship today, and will be so in our new church. This Spring, communities of faith are joining law enforcement, and other groups during Buckle Up America Week As seat belt and child safety seat laws are strictly enforced across Maryland, faith communities are pulling together to help their own, especially the highest risk group: teenagers. If you see a friend, loved one, or a young person forget to use his or her seat belt, remind them that you care and ask them to buckle up.
