PERPETUAL ADORATION of the BLESSED SACRAMENT: We need your help with the following hours: Sundays – 4 & 5 p.m.; Wednesdays – 10:00 p.m.; Thursdays – 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays – 10 a.m., 12, 1, 6 & 7 p.m. If you are willing to spend 1 hour or ½ hour each week with the Lord during one of these time periods, or any other, please call the parish center to give us your name, phone number and the day and time that we may schedule you for Adoration.
ANOINTING of the SICK … Weekend of October 5 and 6
We invite you to participate in a regular weekend Mass that will include the Sacrament of the Sick – an anointing with Holy and Healing Oils on Saturday, October 5th at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 6 at 12:00 noon. Reception to follow after the Sunday, 12:00 noon Mass. Those who are encouraged to participate are the following: Those (of any age) who suffer from any type of illness, such as emotional, mental, and physical illness. Please note this Sacrament is NOT to be confused with “Last Rites.” Although the prayers are the same, the intention of this Sacrament is one of healing in body, mind and soul. We encourage all those who are unable to come to church regularly to call Sr. Bernadette to arrange transportation. For more information, contact Sr. Bernadette at the parish office.

Our Sesquicentennial
PARISH 2003 PICTORIAL DIRECTORY: In time for Christmas! Photographs of St. John parishioners and their families will be taken for the 2003 Pictorial Directory from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on St. John campus Monday through Friday, the weeks of October 28, November 4 & November 11, and on Saturday, November 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sittings will be approximately 20 minutes in length. Families purchasing photographs from these sittings will receive a free Directory.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Now that the dates and times of the photo shoots have been finalized for the Pictorial Directory, volunteers are needed to assist on this committee. MEMORIAL BRICKS: The name of a saint…identify a favorite scripture…memorialize a deceased family member, etc. Forms are available in the parish office to dedicate an engraved brick to pave the entrance to our new church. 4” x 8” bricks are $75 and 8” x 8” bricks are $125. At 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen, Blessed Sacrament Chapel. All are invited to pray for an increase in vocations to the diocesan priesthood, religious life and permanent diaconate, and to pray that those called to serve might joyously recognize and graciously respond to God’s call. CONCERNED ABOUT COMMUNITY ISSUES? Why should Catholics be involved in advocacy? Join with others involved in advocacy to hear the Bishop connect Catholic Social Teaching and Beyond the Boundaries for a practical application to local issues. Participants will share their issue priorities and learn legislative strategies to promote changes for equity. The Maryland Catholic Conference will also outline their process, and our role, in issue selection. These “Catholics and Social Equity” presentations begin with a gathering with refreshments at 6:45 p.m.; the events begin at 7:00 p.m. and are being held: September 23, at St. Agnes Parish, and September 24, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, with Bishop Bennett.
